WK Partnerships – history

WK Partnerships was developed from WK Plasterers in the earlier 1990’s but became a large part of the business from the early 2010’s. in the 1990’s we were growing our own portfolio of houses and were working alongside RSL’s where we partnered on land and houses which were refurbished and then leased on short to long term basis. From this we have expanded to main contracting and developing our own package deals ranging from 1 -40 units across South and West Wales.

WK Plasterers was set up by Wayne Kathrens for whom the WK initials are from. Following a large contractor leaving the South Wales market, he saw a gap and set up the initial business’, which were very successful. One of the key changes for WK was following the closing of the mines by main government which unfortunately lead to large scale mass unemployment in the Welsh Valleys. Wayne spotted this as an opportunity to help and re-train miners and young people which meant WK had a well-trained workforce to call upon for delivering its projects. This, along with other strategic decisions at the time had led to WK becoming one of the largest Plastering contractors in South Wales.

WK Plasterers name was established in 1988 and is well known within the South Wales housebuilding and construction industry. We pride ourselves on being a multi-generational business with up to 2021 housing 3 generations of our family.

Plastering is where the roots of the company grew but as above branched off into main contracting and property which was led by Glenn Kathrens. We have decades of success in this sector, and we have a great reputation for delivering projects on time and to the highest quality standards working with most of the Social Housing providers across our operational area.

In the past 2 years We have heavily expanded on both the management and operational teams with key additions. The current plan for the business is to be working on 4-5 sites per year across our client base. The key being delivering quality homes where we can visit in the future and be proud of what was delivered. We believe that with our approach of partnering with our clients in either package deals where we bring the land, frameworks or winning tenders will allow us to achieve our desire on delivering excellent quality schemes.
